Suspension of Physical Classes (face-to-face classes) from 19 – 30 April

Dear Arrupeans,

Good afternoon,

I hope this email finds you well.

This afternoon we learnt from the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science, Technology and Development about the call from the Zimbabwe National Statistics Services to hold the 2022 Population and Housing Census from 21 – 30 April 2022.  This requires that all students should be in their residences to be counted in the national census exercise.

Thus, the University has responded to this national call with the suspension of physical classes (face-to-face classes) from 19 -30 April. All AJU students are hereby required to remain in their places of residence for the national census.

Since we are in the last week of classes before the examination reading week for the students who started classes in January, the following adjustments have been made to the academic calendar.

19 – 25 April – Examination Reading Week

26 – May 1 – (Week 12) Online Classes and Make-up Classes for all programs in all Schools. (All lecturers and students are hereby advised to ensure that they have functional internet provision to complete the semester).

2 –  13 May – In-person (face-to-face examinations (School of Philosophy/Humanities) and online exams for other schools according to the Examination Timetable).

The students who started their classes in March online should continue online.

Please note that the library will make arrangements to provide limited services for the students who wish to return or borrow books in preparation for the examinations.

N:B This does not apply to the academic and support staff of the University. They are required to continue to come to work unless otherwise advised. Any staff who needs to be excused for the census should use the proper channels for authorization.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Have a blessed Easter break.
